ECGA Senior Home Modification Program
As the number of low-income seniors living in East Cleveland continues to rise, so do their basic home safety needs. Due to aging and disability issues, these seniors require extra help with home repairs, and health and safety modifications in their homes to allow them to live independently as they age in place.
The ECGA Senior Homeowner Maintenance Program will provide the extra help that seniors need!
In recognition of the health and maintenance hazards some seniors face at home, the East Cleveland Growth Association has partnered with the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging's WRAAA Nails It! - Works! Program. With this partnership, ECGA will be able to provide urgent home modifications to prevent low-income seniors and adults with disabilities from suffering injury and falls, accidents or having to move out of their homes into assisted living.
Many of East Cleveland residents on a fixed income cannot physically perform home repairs themselves or afford health and safety related modifications and/or the installation of disability accommodations. The ECGA Senior Homeowner Modification Program addresses this issue head on.
From small modification like grab bars in the shower, to large modifications like wheelchair ramps, home modifications will allow seniors and adults with disabilities to live comfortably, safely, and with as much independence these modifications can provide.
Just installing the items listed below can go a long way in ensuring the safety of East Cleveland’s most vulnerable population. The ultimate goal of the ECGA Senior Homeowner Modification Program is to ensure that the elderly have safe homes in which to live.
Home modifications allowed as part of this program include:
· Grab bars
· Toilet rails
· ADA toilets
· Disability accommodating showers
· Wheelchair and walker ramps
· Stair safety rails (indoor and outdoor)
· Easy to open windows
